Privacy Policy — TapSense for Android
Last updated: August 21, 2026
TapSense does not require an account and does not collect contacts, location, payment information, or NFC tag contents.
Overview
TapSense for Android (“TapSense,” “the app,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) helps you locate your phone’s NFC antenna and confirm the appropriate tap zone with a tap test. This Privacy Policy explains how the Android version of TapSense handles information.
Information accessed on your device
- Device model information. TapSense reads device manufacturer, model, and, where available, SKU information on your device to look up the likely NFC antenna position in an antenna position catalog. This information is used for that feature.
- NFC hardware state. TapSense checks whether NFC is enabled and whether a tag or reader is detected during a tap test. TapSense does not read, store, or transmit NFC tag contents; it only detects whether a tag or reader was present for the tap test.
TapSense does not access or collect account information, contacts, precise or approximate location, payment information, or NFC tag contents.
Information sent off your device
The current TapSense sample app does not perform a real network request.
Its catalog remote API is a sample implementation only
(FakeCatalogRemoteApi).
If a future production version enables a remote antenna-position catalog lookup, it may send a normalized device manufacturer and model string solely to request a matching antenna-position entry. This Privacy Policy will be updated before that behavior is enabled in a released version.
TapSense includes no third-party analytics or crash-reporting SDKs. The sample app logs certain local diagnostic events only to Android Logcat. These events are not transmitted by TapSense.
Information stored on your device
TapSense stores the following information locally on your device:
- App preferences, including a manually selected phone override, haptics, reduced-motion and appearance settings, and onboarding completion status. These preferences are stored using Android DataStore.
- A small device-model-to-antenna-position cache, stored using Room/SQLite, to avoid repeat catalog lookups.
These local stores are used to operate the app and do not contain personal information about you.
Third-party services
TapSense does not include third-party analytics, advertising, or crash-reporting SDKs. If a future production version adds third-party services, this policy will be updated to identify them and describe the related data practices.
Children’s privacy
TapSense does not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes to this Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. Material changes will be reflected in an updated app release where appropriate.
